THE INDUCTION WEEK 👩🏫
As I stepped into the classroom as a teacher, I felt a mix of excitement and nerves. Along with my friends Amala and Angel, I was part of an induction program at New Higher Secondary School, Nellimood, under the guidance of Shinela Rani ma'am. The five-day program was designed to immerse us in the teaching experience. We spent the first two days observing classes, learning how to manage students, and understanding effective teaching techniques. The next three days, we took on the role of teachers, instructing 8th-grade students on Henry Longfellow's poem "The Village Blacksmith." In addition to teaching, we were assigned various responsibilities, including substitution duties, serving mid-day meals, maintaining discipline, and kitchen duties. We also explored the school's facilities, including state-of-the-art labs, libraries, and extracurricular activities like the Student Police Cadet and National Service Scheme.
